Biography
Mark Langley studied at Falmouth School of Art (BA Hons) and then The University of Reading where he was awarded a Master in Fine Art with Distinction. He has worked extensively in arts education over the past 18 years initially teaching general Art & Design in Further Education and then course and curriculum leadership. In more recent years he has developed leadership expertise in a number of department management roles in College and University provision.
Throughout his time in education he has continued to actively make and exhibit his work within the UK and abroad, and has recently had work selected to show in Swansea and Colorado. His work often seeks out the curious and remarkable amongst the images, objects, substances and sounds of the everyday. Works may appear simplistic and utilitarian but can also pose timeless questions about the known and the unknown, the tangible and ephemeral. Since 2012 Mark has been a Trustee for the Whitley Arts Festival and actively promotes and supports the visual arts in Reading.
